Town Hall Updates from Okizu

Okizu held a virtual Town Hall on January 20th. We were delighted to be able to share some program and site updates with so many of you. If you couldn’t join us, please find some of the highlights below:
► We are thrilled to share that we are planning for in-person programs at various rental camp locations in 2022. More information will be available at our parent sessions (see below) and will be on our website in the near future.
► We have been given clearance by our medical director to start to make these plans and will of course put safety first and foremost. We are monitoring CDC, state, and county guidelines, and American Camp Association for guidance for COVID-19.
► Work is still being done on the Berry Creek property by the State of California, which has saved us more than $1M. Since the State is still working, we aren’t able to have any guests visit Camp Okizu until their work is complete.
► Once the cleanup is complete, we will provide opportunities for visitors to take a walking tour of camp, which could be as early as April.
► The Site Committee, Board of Directors, and Staff are evaluating where the optimal place to rebuild Camp Okizu will be and are looking at all options using the pillars of safety, accessibility, program, and finance to evaluate where we will build going forward.
► We will continue to offer our programs of peer support and respite to our campers and their families at rented sites until we have built a new Camp Okizu!
