Program Committee
The program committee will work with the camp operations leadership team at the Okizu office to generate ideas and help implement ways to propel Okizu’s programing. This will include the reinvigoration of in person, online, and hybrid programs being offered in the following modes: family camp, summer camp, and weekend programs. Each committee will intake suggestions from stakeholders using tools such as email, phone calls, and brain storming sessions around various topics to keep the program relevant. All meetings for 2021 & 2022 will be held online and time/day will be established by the facilitator with input from all members. The committee chair will communicate with the Camp Director and other office staff on the committees’ ideas and projects. All final decisions for program changes and/or development will lay with the Okizu office staff team with consideration from the Board of Directors if necessary. Each seat on the committee requires an application and interview. Terms very from 1-2 years and require a time commitment of 3-5 hours a month. Teen Program Committee

This will include the reinvigoration of in person, online, and hybrid programs being offered to campers 13 years and older in the following modes: TNT (Teens and Twenties), BEYOND (Young adult survivors), and summer camp program for all 13 years and older. Each committee will intake suggestions from stakeholders using tools such as email, phone calls, and town halls around various topics to keep the program relevant. All meetings for 2021 & 2022 will be held online and time/day will be established by the facilitator with input from all members. The committee chair will communicate with the Camp Director and other office staff on the committees’ ideas and projects. Bereaved Teen Program
The Bereaved Teen committee will work with the Okizu office staff to generate ideas and help implement ways to propel Okizu’s programing for teenagers who are bereaved. This will include the reinvigoration of in person, online, and hybrid programs being offered to all teens who are bereaved and fall within the Okizu service group. Each committee will intake suggestions from stakeholders using tools such as email, phone calls, and town halls around various topics to keep the program relevant. All meetings for 2021 & 2022 will be held online and time/day will be established by the facilitator with input from all members. The committee chair will communicate with the Camp Director and other office staff on the committees’ ideas and projects. Roles and Responsibilities of Committee Positions
Facilitator Roles and Responsibilities
- Facilitators will prepare and distribute the agenda (using a standard template) in sufficient time.
- During the meeting, the facilitator will be responsible for encouraging participation from all committee members, calling on members to speak (so as to avoid members talking over each other), keeping the discussion connected to the agenda item, and keeping the discussion within the meeting time.
- There may be a monthly meeting of facilitators to share information across committees (this will also provide a backup just in case a facilitator can’t make a meeting).
Committee Member Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide input on the strategic direction of program at Okizu.
- Keep informed of the activities of camp and the wider issues that affect its work.
- Express opinions and perspectives.
- Come to meetings prepared to participate and carry feedback from the constituent group.
- Read the agenda and the materials thoroughly in advance of the meeting.
- Listen respectfully to all participants during committee meetings and actively engage in meeting topics.
Recorder Roles and Responsibilities
- Recorders will note topics of discussion, points made, and agreement/disagreement on points made in reasonable detail so that upon review, community members could easily understand what was discussed at a meeting.
- Recorders will repeat a suggestion that was made by the committee, as they understood it, so as to accurately reflect actions/decisions in the meeting minutes.
- Recorders are responsible for taking and posting / sharing the draft minutes of the meeting within a week of the meeting using a standard template.

- Report on the status of action items to the staff team.
- Conduct an annual evaluation of the committee
- Be fully informed and inform fully – ensure all members have the information they need to make informed decisions and take part in discussions

- There are two seats, one for a parent with a camper 12 years and younger. Another for a parent with a camper 13 years and above.
