Q: What is the mission of Okizu and who does Okizu serve?

A: The mission of Okizu is to help all members of families affected by childhood cancer to heal through peer support, respite, mentoring, and recreational programs.

Okizu works with the pediatric oncology treatment centers in Northern California to serve all Northern California and Northern Nevada families affected by childhood cancer.

Q: What programs does Okizu offer?

A: Okizu offers Family Camp, Oncology Camp, SIBS (Special and Important Brothers and Sisters) Camp, Teens-N-Twenties, and Bereaved Teen Weekends, held at Camp Okizu. Click here for complete program information. Click here for program-specific FAQs.

Q: How much does it cost families to attend Camp Okizu?

A: Because many of the families we serve are already financially stressed from the expenses associated with their child’s illness, we do not charge a fee to attend Camp Okizu and families attend all of our programs free of charge.

The cost of sending a child to camp for one week is approximately $1,000. Depending on the size of the family, the cost of a weekend at family camp is approximately $300 per person.

We fundraise throughout the year to make these camping experiences possible, and all help is welcome. Click here for more information about making a donation.

Q: Does Okizu partner with any hospitals?
