Summer Camp Volunteers
This summer, Okizu is offering two one-week sessions of Oncology Camp and three one-week sessions of SIBS (Special and Important Brother and Sisters) Camp. We rely on volunteers to make every session of camp possible and believe very strongly that one of the most important elements to the success of our programs is our hardworking and talented volunteer staff.
At Oncology and SIBS (Special and Important Brothers and Sisters) Camp, volunteers work with the kids 24-hours a day, taking care of their needs and ensuring that they have an amazing time at camp. Volunteering at SIBS and/or Oncology Camp is a nine-day commitment; volunteers spend two days in staff training and seven days with the campers.
Oncology and SIBS Camp staff is a carefully selected team of qualified adults, selected for their experience and enthusiasm for their work with children. Many of the counselors are university students who are interested in working with children. Others are teachers, nurses, and other professionals who have made it a priority to spend at least one week of their vacation time volunteering at camp.
