His name is Craig W., he’s 9 years old and attended Camp Okizu for the first time this summer. Craig is currently being treated for a malignant brain tumor.
Craig’s mom is thankful for the family camp experience. “It meant a lot to us in many ways to meet families just like us. The girls went to SIBS camp and came away with a glow over them and also can not wait to go back. We appreciate all that Camp Okizu has given us as a family.”
His name is Jack B. When he was 2 1/2 years old a large tumor was discovered in his neck, jaw, and portion of his tongue. He did not undergo any chemotherapy because the doctors told us it would not work on his tumor. Radiation was out of the question because he was too young and it would be too disfiguring. So he underwent an 8 hour surgery. They told us the tumor would be back within 6 months, as they were unable to remove all of it. Well, he will be 8 years old on October 21, 2003 and there has been no sign or recurrence. He is a happy, vibrant child!
